SEO MCP Servers Compared (2026): Price, Data, Setup

An SEO MCP server connects an AI agent such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex to search data, so the agent looks up keyword volumes, rankings and backlinks instead of guessing. The servers differ most in one thing: what you must pay before the first call works. Ahrefs and Semrush need plans of €115 to €177 a month. DataForSEO needs a €45 deposit. zaDojo is €10 a month with €10 of usage included, and its €0.10 of trial credits work over MCP with no card.

zaDojo is a remote server at https://app.zadojo.com/mcp that you connect with OAuth or an API key. It has more than 80 tools for SEO data and AI answer tracking, and it works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI.

"Tools" is the number each vendor states. Similarweb gives no total, so its figure is the count of tools its docs list. Ahrefs, SE Ranking and Moz do not publish one.

zaDojo

zaDojo is an SEO and AI visibility platform built to be used through an agent. Its server at https://app.zadojo.com/mcp has more than 80 tools: keyword research and metrics, live Google and local results, domain and backlink data, site audits, rank tracking, AI answer tracking in ChatGPT and Gemini (Google AI Overviews, Claude and Perplexity optional), and read-only Google Search Console and Google Analytics with no Google Cloud project. Results, trackers and reports are saved to a project the team can open in the web app.

Price: one plan at €10 a month with €10 of usage included. New accounts get €0.10 of trial credits with no card. Keyword research is about €0.07 a search and a domain overview about €0.10. Search Console, Analytics, reports and plain site audits use no credits.
Setup: OAuth in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI, or an API key for headless use. Plugins for Claude Code and Codex add twelve skills (audit, keyword research, competitor analysis, local SEO, AI visibility audit and more).
Choose it if you want SEO and AI visibility data in your agent without a large subscription, or you want the agent to save reports and trackers your team can see.
Look elsewhere if you need years of backlink history, ad research, or a prompt database covering millions of AI questions.

Set up zaDojo MCP

Ahrefs MCP

Ahrefs runs a remote MCP server for Lite plans and above. Lite costs €115 a month and includes 200,000 API units a month, shared with the Ahrefs API. Each call uses at least 50 units, so heavy agent use can run through the allowance. The €26 Starter plan does not include MCP.

Choose it if backlinks are your main job. Ahrefs runs its own crawler and keeps up to five years of history on Advanced.
Look elsewhere if you only need occasional lookups; €115 a month is a lot for a few questions a week.

Semrush MCP

Semrush's remote server (14 tools) works with Semrush One Starter (€177 a month) and Pro+, and with the older Pro and Guru plans. Those plans include 50,000 API units for MCP; Advanced and Business need a unit package bought through sales. Semrush's own database and ad research are the draw.

Choose it if your team already pays for Semrush and wants the same data in Claude or ChatGPT.
Look elsewhere if you would be buying Semrush only for MCP. The SEO plan below Starter has no MCP access.

DataForSEO MCP

DataForSEO sells raw SEO data by the call. Its MCP server is open source and comes as a hosted endpoint or a local install. You need a €45 minimum top-up, and a €0.89 trial credit lets you test. The server exposes four tools, one of them a generic request tool, so the agent has to know the API well.

Choose it if you are a developer who wants raw data at cost and is happy to write the workflows.
Look elsewhere if you want saved projects, trackers, reports or a dashboard. zaDojo uses DataForSEO data and adds those on top.

SE Ranking MCP

SE Ranking includes a remote MCP server (OAuth) with every API plan. The cheapest route is a pay-as-you-go wallet at €45 for 250,000 credits that never expire, and there is a 14-day trial with 100,000 credits.

Choose it if you want pay-as-you-go SEO data from a full SEO suite, or you already use SE Ranking.
Look elsewhere if you also need AI answer tracking in the same server.

Serpstat MCP

Serpstat's official server runs locally and has 65 tools. MCP and API access start with the Team plan at €89 a month; the €45 Individual plan has neither. Most plans allow one request per second.

Choose it if you want a wide tool set at a mid price and run your agent locally.

Similarweb MCP

Similarweb's remote server (about 40 tools in its docs) needs an API, Business or Enterprise plan, and Similarweb does not publish those prices. It is the pick for traffic estimates, market share and audience data rather than keyword research.

Screaming Frog MCP

Since version 24, the Screaming Frog SEO Spider can run as a local MCP server, either headless or with its window open, and Screaming Frog documents setup for Claude Desktop and LM Studio. The agent can start, load and export crawls, pull URL details and screenshots, and run bulk reports. It needs a paid SEO Spider licence (the guide says it does not work in the free version) and runs only on your own computer, so browser clients such as claude.ai cannot use it.

Choose it if you already crawl sites with Screaming Frog and want an agent to drive the crawls and read the results.
Look elsewhere if you need keyword, ranking or backlink data. It crawls sites; it does not return search data.

Moz MCP

Moz lists MCP access as a beta on its API plans, which start at €18 a month for 3,000 rows. Choose it if your team reports on Moz metrics such as Domain Authority.

Free options for your own site

Google Analytics MCP: Google's official server is experimental and runs locally with nine tools. It is read-only unless you turn on its one write tool, which adds annotations to a property. You need a Google Cloud project and credentials.
Search Console: Google has no official Search Console MCP server. Community servers work locally once you create a Google Cloud project and a service account or OAuth client.

Both are good if you are comfortable with Google Cloud. zaDojo reads the same Search Console and GA4 data with a normal Google sign-in, uses no credits for it, and works in remote clients such as claude.ai and ChatGPT where local servers cannot run.

How to choose

Decide what the agent needs. Your own site's numbers only? A free Google server or zaDojo's free reads. Competitor and keyword data? A paid server.
Check what you already pay for. If you have Ahrefs Lite or Semrush One, use their servers first.
Count the entry cost, not the headline. Plans that exclude MCP and minimum deposits change the real price.
Check your client. Browser clients such as claude.ai and ChatGPT need a remote server with OAuth. Local servers only work in desktop and terminal apps.
Try before you pay. zaDojo, DataForSEO, SE Ranking and Serpstat all let you test first.

What is the best free SEO MCP server? For your own site, Google's Analytics MCP or a community Search Console server, if you can set up Google Cloud. For competitor and keyword data there is no free server with real data; zaDojo's €0.10 trial and DataForSEO's €0.89 credit are the cheapest ways to test.

Can an MCP server change my website? These servers read data. Some, including zaDojo, can save things in their own app (reports, trackers, saved keywords), but none of them edits your site. A coding agent such as Claude Code or Cursor can edit your site's files separately.
