Backlinks

Backlink analysis for link building research

Look up any domain, folder or page and see who links to it, which links are followed, which ones disappeared, and how the profile grew over the past year. Use it to judge competitors and to find sites worth contacting.

About €0.10 for an overview with a year of history, paid from the credits in the €10 monthly plan.

What backlink analysis shows you

A backlink is a link from another website to yours. Search engines treat links as endorsements, so the number and quality of sites linking to a page helps explain why it ranks. zaDojo pulls link data from DataForSEO and lays it out in three tabs: Backlinks, Referring Domains and Top Pages.

Above the tables, two charts cover the last 12 months: total backlinks and referring domains over time, and new links against lost links. A sharp drop is worth a closer look, because it can mean a sitewide link was removed or a linked page moved without a redirect.

Filters cut a large profile down to what you need: followed or nofollow links, text in the source or target URL, the linking domain, and switches that hide lost and broken links. The one-per-domain view shows the best link from each site, which is the fastest way to scan who links to a competitor.

What you see for each link

Linking page and target
The exact URL that links out and the page it points to on the site you are researching.
Anchor text
The clickable words, which show how other sites describe the page.
Follow status
Dofollow or nofollow, since nofollow links pass little ranking value.
Authority and spam signals
Rank and spam scores for the linking domain, to separate useful links from noise.
Lost and broken status
Links that were removed, or that now point to a page returning an error.

Who uses backlink analysis

  • Link builders and outreach freelancers

Mine a competitor's referring domains for sites that already link to pages like yours.

  • Founders checking a market

See whether the pages ranking for your keyword win on links or on content before you invest in a page.

  • Agencies taking on a client

Spot lost links worth reclaiming and broken pages that still attract links.

How to analyze backlinks in the app

  1. 01In your project, open Domains, then Backlinks.
  2. 02Enter a domain, subfolder or URL and choose the scope. Coming from Domain Overview keeps the same target.
  3. 03Read the trend charts, then open Backlinks, Referring Domains or Top Pages.
  4. 04Filter by follow status, words in the URL or domain, and hide lost or broken links.
  5. 05Export the rows to CSV or Google Sheets to build an outreach list.

Link building research with your agent

An agent connected to zaDojo calls get_backlinks_overview for the summary and get_backlinks_profile for pages of detailed link rows, with filters and sorting. The Link Prospecting skill turns that into a full job: it searches Google for resource pages and lists in your topic, checks competitors' links, qualifies the prospects, looks for public contact paths with the agent's own web tools, drafts outreach and saves the result as a report.

Example prompt

Use zaDojo to compare the referring domains of competitor-a.com and competitor-b.com. List the sites that link to both but not to mysite.com, skip anything with a high spam score, and suggest which page on my site each one might link to.

Limits to know

  • No tool sees every link on the web. Counts come from DataForSEO's index and will differ from Google's own view and from other tools.
  • Authority and spam scores are third-party estimates. Use them to sort a list, then open the linking page yourself before you act on it.
  • History charts need a whole hostname. For a single page or folder you get totals without the trend.
  • Totals for a bare domain include its subdomains by default. Pick the Domain scope to leave them out.

Common questions

What is backlink analysis used for?

It shows which sites link to a page and how strong those links are. You use it to judge how hard a keyword will be, to find prospects in a competitor's profile, and to catch lost links worth getting back.

Can I see a competitor's backlinks?

Yes. Enter any domain, folder or URL. You do not need to own or verify the site.

Why do backlink counts differ between tools?

Each provider crawls the web on its own schedule and keeps its own index. Compare sites inside one tool rather than mixing numbers from several.

How is this different from the free backlink checker?

The free checker shows a summary and the 15 strongest linking sites with no account. This feature gives you every link row, referring domains, top pages, filters, a year of history and exports inside your project.

Does zaDojo find contact details for outreach?

The backlink data has no contact details. The Link Prospecting skill tells your agent to look for public author pages, contact pages and profiles with its own web tools, and to record only what it actually found.
